Baton Rouge Tweetup

Monday evening as the sun went down, Baton Rouge Tweeters gathered at Chimes East on Coursey Boulevard.Twitter Gathering,Chimes Rest., Coursey Blvd., Baton Rouge, Louisiana  There was good food and fellowship and much amazement at the power of Twitter to call such a diverse group on short notice.  It was a first one here and no one knew quite what to expect.  College students, Gatorworks techies, grandparents, bankers, outfitters, poker players, Realtors.  There were even 3 of us Active Rain bloggers there, some who didn't know each other and hadn't found each other on Active Rain until last night!Baton Rouge Real Estate, Chimes Rest.,, Coursey Blvd., Louisiana  Bryan Castillo, Linda Fredericks, and myself.

I was lucky as I just started my account and was able to get in on this first Twitter event in the Baton Rouge area.  It was such a success I'm sure there will be more in the future.  Much thanks to David Link of Baton Rouge's GatorWorks for organizing this one.

Good to meet you last night.  Funny how we've both been on Active Rain and I didn't even know you.

Hi Ann, sounds like fun.  I haven't been to one yet.  Look forward to following you.

Judi, Go and try one in your area.  I wasn't sure what to expect but it was lots of fun.  I met some new friends to learn from.

Eileen,  You should try organizing one and see what happens.  The one here just put out a tweet a week ahead.  We had about 20 show up.

Ann, I'll have to get on Twitter more often so I know when and where there is a "Tweet Gathering".

Glad to hear the meetup was such a success! The nice thing about social networking is that it tends to break down a lot of barriers and stereotypes, and makes meeting in person so much easier.

Judy,  Yes, do locate a Tweet Gathering.

John, Yes, it was interesting to see what a diverse group met for the Tweetup.  The one common thread was that we all liked or were experimenting with technology or social networking.
