Baton Rouge Neighborhood: The Garden District

Baton Rouge is rich with historical district and historical homes.  One such area is a grouping of 3 subdivisions collectively called "The Garden District".  These subdivisions located in Mid-City are filled with upscale homes and  and are popular residential and business areas.  Baton Rouge's first subdivison, Roseland Terrace, is in this area.  Draped by magnificant Oak Trees and brightened by blooming azaleas and magnolia trees, this area lives up to its garden name.  An active civic association has neighborhood events such as the 2009 Holiday Lighting contest.  Be sure and visit the winners for an enjoyable outing this Christmas season.

I have always found Baton Rouge a beautiful place!

Do you know much about Jefferson Parish?

Luke,

I have some familiarity with Jefferson parish.  I have family and friends who live and work there so I visit several times a month.  It is a long parish that slices parts of New Orleans down to the coast.  It includes communities on the East Bank, the West Bank, and costal areas south of New Orleans.  One of the humorous things I learned about the New Orleans area is that the West Bank is east of New Orleans on the map.  :-)  Go figure!
